Jolly Voyager

Hello, all!  I know I have left the blog pushed aside and neglected for quite some time.... but today I have something I want to share and promised to post about so here it is!

A few months ago I visited the patchwork craft show in Santa Ana and stumbled upon the lovely shop, Apricty.  Her shop can't help but to catch your eye when walking by it with her products vintage charm of lace and peter pan collared dresses she has displayed, you can't miss it.  I have followed Apricity for a while on Etsy and it was so nice to see a variety of her dresses in person as well as try all of them on.  Eileen Chai, who is the owner of the shop and co owner of Fleet Collection was super helpful and sweet.  I think its great when you can meet some of your favorite artists in person so you can see and get to know the person behind the creations.  I hope we'll cross paths again at another craft show.  I'm not a huge fan of posting a ton of photos of myself on social media but I was able to get these photos taken by a lovely friend when wearing the dress and I love it.  All of her dresses are great quality and so well made.  This dress barely wrinkles even after being washed and it fits comfortably.  It's my favorite dress right now and I would love to purchase another of Eileen's creations in the future.
I had such a great time doing this photo shoot in DTLA.  You can always find unique spots for photo taking in L.A.  All photos were taken by my friend over at Alicia Napier Photography!  Also,  things might be starting to look a little different around here.  I've been trying to work on the image of my blog and have been getting a lot of help from some good friends that I'm so thankful for.  It is still in progress and needs a little more spicing up but it seems to be coming together.  I'm super happy with how its turning out.  I'm also wanting to incorporate more photography posts as much as I can with my goal of wanting to do photography professionally.  I can be very back and forth when it comes to figuring out what I want the aesthetic of my blog to be but I hope you enjoy what I have to share in the future as I figure out what I'm doing exactly.... Evening!  Not much to share today but some photos.  I just thought I'd share a couple photos from 2 weeks ago that I've been editing here and there.  I had my (Kenzie) senior photo shoot in DTLA, but took some photos for myself as well.   I guess Maddi was getting her own photo shoot while Alicia was snapping photos of me!  We went to a couple other spots for pictures but I wasn't able to get pictures of them.  Next time!  Go take a look at Alicia's site if you would like!  She's an amazing photographer and a very good friend.  So far I'm loving the photos she took!  Here are a few photos I took at the Ace.

L.A. is definitely a place we venture to often.  Last week we made this trip mostly for Salt & Straw's honey lavender ice cream that we've been craving for too long since our road trip we did to Oregon 2 years ago.  It was as amazing as I remembered it.  There were also many ice cream pictures being taken.  My mom laughing at me: "I've never taken so many pictures of ice cream before!"  Thank you mother for putting up with my picture taking and taking them as I instruct you to.  She is very patient with me.  Salt & Straw is how we ended our L.A. day, and what a perfect way to end it!  I kind of wish I tried some of their other May flower flavors but I was too distracted having honey lavender on my mind.  We also brought back home 2 more pints.

Whenever we are hungry for an adventure we love to take a day trip to L.A. to either revisit our favorite spots or try something new.  Last week we went downtown to visit the Ace Hotel.  Normally we will just walk in the Ace to hang out or go in for some photo booth shenanigans, but this time we decided to try the food we've heard so much about.  I got the ricotta pancakes and they were perfectly fluffy!  The pancakes were topped with bananas, strawberries, and honeycomb butter (delicious!).  I also really love the way the space is decorated.  Lots of windows, black and white coloring with small details like small vases with unique flowers in them centered on gold tables and different artwork on the walls.  Loved it!  I would definitely go back for those pancakes.  Underneath the hotel is an old theatre from the 1920's that they have showings in still.  I would love to visit it some time when it's open.  I was only able to peek in through the windows, but it looked beautiful!
