An English Adventure: London

5:38 PM

So,  we've now made it to the end of the English Adventures blog posts... For now, at least.  We definitely plan on visiting as much as we possibly can.  England has a way of capturing your heart.  If only it wasn't so far away.... There are so many good things I can say about England.  One of them being, as soon as we arrived to London a few very polite English men helped us lug our bags off of the tube and to our nearby apartment.  England, man. Why can't everyone always be that polite?  After that, our first stop was Regent's Park which definitely had to be one of my favorite parks we visited, though there are so many more to explore in the city and all over England, really.  It was the perfect Autumn day and there were so many cute, little squirrels around the park that would scurry close to your feet and look up to you for some food.
There is so, so much to see and do in London.  But I'm going to try doing my best in sharing what we did, short and sweet in this post.  We then did a Bible tour at The British Museum conducted by a lovely older English brother.  The tour was very much similar to The Woman and Her Offspring tour given in NY.  I remember when we did the tour in NY and that the information that was given was amazing so it was really nice to have a sort of refresher of it.  Also, the British Museum is beautiful! I couldn't get over the glass roof and the wonderful light that was coming through it.
On our way to London Bethel!  We were able to join a Bethel Sunday roast with a few of our Bethelite friends who had also very nicely showed us around the London Bethel grounds.  The London Bethel is located in the area, Mill Hill and has a few separate buildings.  One building is where the printing takes place (or used to anyways), and another where Bethelites take care of laundry as well as the shipping (which has just made its end).  It's so amazing to see how hard Jehovah's servants work and the wonderful things that are being accomplished.  As a side note, our England friends love peanut butter m&m's and Lucky Charms (as they don't really have them there), so we brought those exact things to our friend Jordan.  You can imagine he was quite excited.

After Bethel, we made our way from Mill Hill back to London for a second lunch..... as we do.  Located in Southwark is Borough Market, where there is a variety of food stands as well as artists selling their work.  There was so much food I wanted to try, and then settled for some delicious indian food.  I'm sure everything at the stands tasted amazing but I only had room for one extra meal.  Next time I would love to come and try a little bit of everything.
On our last couple days in London we walked along South Bank to see Ben during the day and night time.   We also had the chance to see Benedict Cumberbatch starring in the play, Hamlet.  Wow, what an amazing show that was.  On South Bank is also a small theatre called Shakespeare's Globe where a lot of locals will see plays for just 5 pounds- if you're alright with standing for a couple hours.  Education and culture is so cheap here, it's crazy and I wish it was like that everywhere else.  I think that's how it should always be.  Writing this post has made me sad as the English Adventures come to an end, and I'm also just missing England horribly.  We hope to see you again soon, England!
