Chocolate Bundles

11:45 AM

Good morning!  The other day I decided to make a recipe I haven't made in awhile.  A couple years ago we went through a phase where we would make these chocolate bundles a lot, but then we kind of forgot about them.  Plus, when you've got some puff pastry and some chocolate chips laying, why not make them!  Chocolate chips are a staple in our house.  We always and if not, there must be some chocolate chips sitting somewhere in the cupboard.  I also like to add walnuts to my chocolate bundles if you wanna do that too.

Ingredients: 11/2 cup of chocolate chips, 1 cup of walnuts, puff pastry sheets, 2 eggs, 1 tsp of milk or half and half, powdered sugar.

Preheat the oven to 350 and cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper.  Next, let the puff pastry thaw (or set it on top of the stove top while the oven is pre-heating like I did because I was impatient).  The puff pastry I bought was already cut into little squares, so if you are buying the big sheets of puff pastry I would cut each sheet in four equally shaped squares.  Then mix together the 2 eggs and 1 tsp of milk or half and half in a bowl to make an egg wash and brush the egg wash over each square.  After brushing the egg wash on your squares, add a handful of chocolate chips and broken up walnuts if you would like in the center and pull all the corners of the squares together and twist them together to make you bundles.  Then brush more egg wash over your bundles on the parchment paper and stick them in the oven for 35 minutes.  After they have come out of the oven let them cool a bit and dust powdered sugar on top.

Enjoy your weekend!
